Telford, originally known as the birthplace of Industry, has been recognised as a major regional growth point in the West Midlands.

The town will not only see an increase in population but also investment, development and employment.

Over 4,000 companies have chosen to locate their business in Telford including global players like Capgemini, GKN, EDS, Denso, Ricoh, Epson, Makita, Siemens, AGA Rayburn, Fruit of the Loom, Heinz, Lyreco and Maxell.

Telford is ideally located 30 miles west of Birmingham on the M54 motorway and two thirds of the UK's population is within four hours travel time, as a result Telford has become an attractive area for service industries, logistics, distribution and business support activities.

All business locations in Telford are within ten minutes of the M54 motorway and the new Telford International Rail freight. Businesses therefore have direct access to the national motorway network, train and freight services and links to nearby airports and ports.

The town sits within the Wolverhampton to Telford Technology Corridor, a university-led network of regional public and private sector organisations that encourages innovation, knowledge transfer, new enterprise and increased competitiveness in the region. Projects like the e-Innovation Centre and the Innovative Product Development Centre are providing a focus for companies to push the boundaries of technology and innovation.

A key ingredient to the on-going success of Telford as a business location is the availability of professional networks and support organisations. There is a deeply rooted culture of cooperation and partnership which ensures that people receive professional support and practical advice whether they are multi-national inward investors or home-grown companies, school-leavers and jobseekers or young professionals and senior business people.
